AnyWear
2025-03
A luxury clothing rental platform making designer fashion accessible — won 1st place at DragonzDen.
AnyWear is a peer-to-peer luxury clothing rental platform built on the idea that you should not have to own something to wear it once. The target market is people who want to look great at a formal event, a photoshoot, or a night out without paying retail prices for an outfit they will wear once.
The business model lets owners list high-end items for rent and earn passive income on clothes sitting in their closet. Renters get access to designer pieces at a fraction of the purchase price.
We took AnyWear through three full pitch iterations at DragonzDen. Each round, the judges pushed harder on margins, churn, insurance liability, and the cold-start problem of building a two-sided marketplace from zero. I wrote about the March round in my newsletter while we were still in the thick of it, sitting with imposter syndrome and genuinely unsure if we would make it through. The feedback was hard. We took it seriously and came back sharper every time.
Result: 1st place at DragonzDen.
When I wrote about winning in my May 2025 newsletter, what I kept coming back to was not the trophy. It was the process. Three pitches. Three rounds of judges who did not owe us anything. The version of AnyWear that won was meaningfully different from the version we started with, and that difference came entirely from pressure.
The biggest takeaway: the pitch is only as strong as the business model underneath it. We won because we knew our numbers cold and had thought through the edge cases before anyone asked.
