DECA Notification Summarizer Pitch

2025-02

A DECA pitch for an app that condenses distracting notifications into brief, timed digests to help users stay focused.

The average person receives dozens of push notifications a day. Each one is a small interruption — a break in focus that takes longer to recover from than the notification itself takes to read. The cumulative effect is a baseline level of distraction that most people have simply accepted as normal.

This pitch proposed an app that batches incoming notifications by priority and delivers them in short, scheduled digests instead of individually as they arrive. Users define when and how often they want to be updated. The app summarizes what happened, surfaces what's actually urgent, and filters out the noise.

The core insight behind the pitch: notifications are designed to pull your attention toward the app that sent them, not to be useful to you. A summarizer layer flips this dynamic — you decide when to engage, not the apps.
